Hike for Discovery: Hiking for a Cure

ALBANY – Whether you're a seasoned hiker or someone who just enjoys a good walk, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has launched a new hiking program for your ability and level of fitness. The Hike for Discovery, the 14-18 week program, provides a hike leader to train and prepare you for your grand finale hike weekend at a spectacular destination. Transportation, lodging, social events with your group and a one-year membership in the American Hiking Society are all part of the package. As you train, you'll raise funds for vital research so blood cancer patients live longer, better lives. Hike for Discovery is recruiting hikers for the Fall 2008 Season, for their Eight Great Hikes in the Adirondacks. Join us as we explore some of the high peaks in the Adirondack Park and train with the team to conquer these physical challenges. During the eight-week program we will follow abandoned logging roads, seek out chains of pristine lakes, cross wild rivers and visit waterfalls, peaks and cliffs. This adventure will give each participant a broad view of all the Adirondacks have to offer and introduce you to rare unmarked paths that few people have the opportunity to travel. Contact Michael Kramer at (518) 438-3583 or visit hikefordiscovery.org for more information.
