Running Clubs Award Scholarships to Local Students The Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club of Albany and The Adirondack Runners of Glens Falls awarded college scholarships to high school seniors. The Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club named the four recipients of the 2008 Bill Shrader Sr. Memorial Scholarship: Hillary Edmunds of Voorheesville Central High School, Emily McTague of Niskayuna High School, William "Macky" Lloyd of Voorheesville High School, and Matthew Blair of Lansingburgh High School were each awarded a $1,500 scholarship by the club. The scholarships were awarded on the basis of the student's academic excellence, outstanding athletic achievements in track and/or cross-country, extracurricular activities, and an intention to continue their running endeavors while in college. The scholarship is established in memory of Bill Shrader, an outstanding lifelong runner and one of the founding members of the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and support young runners in their efforts to make running a lifelong part of a healthy lifestyle. The Adirondack Runners awarded six recipients $600 each based on academic achievements, running achievement, community service and membership in the club. The students are Matthew Flint and Alexander Benway of Queensbury High School, Samantha Distler of Glens Falls High School, Ryan Wade of North Warren School, Emily McTague of Niskayuna High School, and Lucas Roods of Greenwich Central School.
